James Cameron, director of «Avatar: The Way of Water», will not be able to be present at the premiere of the film that will take place in Hollywood on Monday night after having tested positive for covid-19.
As reported by the specialized entertainment media Variety, the director of «Avatar» (2009) -the highest grossing film of all time- is asymptomatic and is in good health, so he will continue to promote the film virtually.
However, at the event that will take place at the Hollywood and Highland shopping center this Monday night, the star cast of the film will be present, including Zoe Saldaña, Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Sam Worthington, Jemaine Clement and Sigourney Weaver.
A week ago, the Canadian director had the opportunity to present his film in London and now cinemas around the world await the world premiere of the second part of the story on December 16.
The second part of the saga takes place a decade after the events portrayed in the first film and tells the story of the Sully family, who will have to do everything possible to stay together after an ancient threat reappears.
«Avatar: The Way of Water», recovers characters and settings from the original; Jake Sully and Neytiri, heroes of the 2009 film, and again, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana star in the film, this time as an adult couple, responsible for five teenagers.
The story will continue with three more sequels that have already been shot by Cameron and that mark his return to the industry as a director after several projects as a screenwriter.
Days after its release, the film already has two Golden Globe nominations, one for Cameron for best direction and another for best drama film.
